New Production Technology For Titanium Alloy Blades Of Aircraft Engines

According to reports, Rostec United Engine Company has introduced unique technology for the production of aircraft engine blades. The development of innovation has made it possible to produce the most precisely shaped parts (including large parts), while also reducing labor costs and eliminating labor from the production process.

The UEC Saturn plant in Rybinsk produces engine blades, using a device for twisting high-precision titanium blades and a technology for mixing and stamping two-phase #titanium alloy blades.

In terms of design and production, the blades of gas turbine engines are one of the most complex and scientifically intensive engine parts. The product requires the most precise shape, can withstand high loads and high temperatures, and is produced using rare metals and unique alloys, as well as composite materials, to ensure the low weight and high strength of the workpiece. Only six countries in the world have the ability to design and produce engine blades. The possession of these technologies shows that the country's mechanical engineering industry is highly developed.

“Both of these inventions are related to the production of blade stamping parts. The torsion device is built into the process flow, and now only Russian-made equipment is used to produce blades for advanced aircraft engines, expanding the scope and ability to produce large blades. In turn, hybrid stamping is based on additive manufacturing technology and isothermal stamping technology, which meets the required standards in terms of production economy and mechanical specifications. Igor Ilyin, chief engineer of PJSC UEC Saturn, said.

These inventions were exhibited at the Archimedes 2022 International Salon and won gold and silver awards.

Rostec United Engine Company widely uses the latest technology to manufacture and produce PD-8 series civil aircraft engines to replace imported SSJ-NEW, PD-14 to replace medium-range MS-21, and PD-35 to replace advanced wide-body long-distance aircraft.
